Kid Altrini

The Origin Story

Summer in the sprawling City of Brightsburg,
and it was hot, VERY hot....

Dish of peas

Max sat in the school canteen and pushed his peas round in circles. He had no appetite for any of the food on his plate.

The bell rang and all the other kids rushed out to play in the sun. Max trudged wearily to the library, no appetite for running around either.

The library was dimly lit and empty. Silent, but for the screams and shouts of his classmates playing outside.

Book

Max wandered slowly through the aisles, not much stomach for books today either. Then something caught his eye. Did that book just move on its own?
And again. It did! A shiny metal-covered book – nothing like the other well-thumbed volumes filling the dusty shelves. Glowing. He approached it cautiously.
He should hurry away...

But something compelled him to open it....

Blam

A sudden flash of light...

Max found himself in a bright place. No books, no walls, no nothing – except a luminious robed figure floating in front of him. The figure reached out a hand towards Max; in it a small bottle. Its voice boomed:

“I am Laminar the spirit of the Electrolyte Force”

You have been judged worthy to join the world of Altrini. Use this honour wisely!" In a smaller, kinder voice it said

“I think some people out there need you Max”

Scoreboard

Noticing one side was losing 11-0, this hero chose to help-out, and displaying dazzling skills, swiftly got the score to 11-13.

GAME OVER!

The mystery player, known only as Kid Altrini, quietly left the playground as the whole school watched in admiration. No-one knew who he could be, though Stephanie ‘Super-Brain’ Shaw noticed he had the same colour hair and was the same size as Max from her class.

General Grim

What none of the kids noticed was a dark figure lurking in the shadows – also watching Kid Altrini leave.

General Grim knew he had to stop children getting those bottles – otherwise there could be millions of Kid Altrinis…
